Within the Phoenix coaching team, is a passion to support girls to be the best that they can be at football, and develop their talents as far as they can go. In the 25/26 season, Phoenix introduced futsal into the training programme to provide girls with an opportunity to enhance their ball skills, fitness and decision making.
The programme as run by our Futsal specialist Duncan, and supported by his son Alfie, who has experience representing England Futsal at u19 level.
Duncan Castle (Futsal Coach)
Duncan was introduced to futsal by Ciaran over 10 years ago and immediately fell in love with the game. The speed, intensity, and constant involvement create an environment that accelerates player development faster than any other format he had experienced. Futsal develops better decision-makers, more confident players, and stronger technical footballers, which is why it has become such an important part of the Phoenix programme.
Creating a positive environment where every player feels included is at the heart of his coaching philosophy. As a parent, he recognised that goalkeepers are often treated as an afterthought during team training. Over the last few years, he has made goalkeeper development a key part of our sessions, ensuring they receive the attention and coaching they deserve.
Duncan's goal is simple: to help every player develop, enjoy their football, and become the best version of themselves both on and off the pitch.
